Welcome to the CardMaker Blog hop!
The design team from CardMaker has partnered up with Flower Soft to bring you some fluffy fun!
Our theme? Animals!
I started with this cuddly critter couple from Stampavie. Stamped it in dark ink, and then proceeded to add a bit of color. Even though the birds were going to get the Flower Soft treatment, I still added a base color with my markers... just in case I had any "open spots" that didn't get fully covered... I didn't want my poor birdies to have bright white pox marks. I then colored up the rest of the image (the socks and the branch) as I normally would.
Once the image was colored up... I got down to adding the Flower Soft. I started with the smallest areas first (the face). I applied my glue so that it created a fully coated surface, and then sprinkled on some Ivory Flower Soft. Once that was done, I glued up the bodies and added the Delphinium Blue Flower Soft.
I let it all dry completely before turning it upside down and tapping off the excess. I then had to take a tweezers and pull just a few blue spots from the face and pulled off the Ivory from the beak and eye area.
I love the great 3-D effect that I got... it almost looks like my feathery friends are real!
Some of the things I learned from my first experience with Flower Soft:
- It comes in a small container... but it is packed in tight! Pour out a small amount into a bowl or larger container and then "fluff" with your fingers.
- Make sure the glue covers the entire area you want "fluffed"... my first attempt left large open white spaces!
- Try to work from the inside of an image out. (Or do your lightest color first.) This will help you avoid mixing the colors on the image.
- Don't use Flower Soft if you have allergies or a cold... there's nothing like coughing to really get the stuff flying! LOL
