Copic Watercolor

Just a quick post today as I finalize projects, clean the house, and pack for CHA!  Just a few more days to get it all done. 

I wanted to share something new that I've been doing with my Copics lately... Copic Watercoloring!

Isn't this cool?  We purchased a new bedroom set and our linens are plum, white and silver and they look so stunning with the dark wood of the furniture.  I decided I wanted to make my own artwork for the room and I had the idea of trying to create an abstract painting with a watercolor look.  

I decided to play around with the technique and these are a few of my sample pieces.  I just LOVE the way they turned out!  I paired them up with these extra-large saying stamps from 10 Second Studios...

Super Geeked!  I can't wait to get to work on my bedroom paintings next.

Copic Certification Class Changes and Updates

Copic has some new and exciting things in store for you this year and I'm excited to share our newly-updated Copic Certification program. We have listened to our VALUED customers, and have made some changes to our program. 

• Beginning in 2012, we will be offering "back to back" Certifications for our Regular and Intermediate classes in many locations! This will make it more cost effective for our students who have to travel for our classes.  This option may not be advisable for everyone... keep in mind, the skills needed for the intermediate class will still be required as we DO NOT take class time during the Intermediate to go over basic blending skills.  You choose what's best for YOU.
  
• You will be doing more "hands on" coloring during the classes and making a portfolio to take home with you. This is a major change to the Standard class!  You asked for it and we've listened!  Students will be coloring specially drawn images during the class allowing for more personalized feedback.  Students will leave the class with a portfolio of their work and additional images for practice. 
  
• Classes are no longer geared specifically to stores or instructors.  Everyone is welcome!  There will be no waiting period for "enthusiasts" to apply for the classes.  ALL applicants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis at the time they apply.  While we still cover the product basics (the foundation of successful Copic use), we will no longer focus on marketing or teaching topics (although questions about these are still very welcome).
• Apply On-Line!  We've made it even easier to apply for classes with our new "on-line" application process!  Just visit the Copic website (or my Copic Certification Class page) and click on the Apply On-Line link.

Copic Papercrafting Standard Certification Classes

The Copic Certification Class encompasses education of the most important aspects of Copic’s product lines.   It includes hands-on education of product knowledge, blending techniques, answers questions to common problems, and testing and selecting your inks and papers. You will receive a kit of Copic products, a 68 page manual and an opportunity to make a portfolio of all the techniques you learn in class.  You will also have an opportunity to sample each of our markers.  We cover their function and the differences between each one.

Things covered in class:
—  Three common mistakes and how to identify, test and use your materials
—  Four different blending techniques
—  How to create texture and erase mistakes
—  The Copic numbering system
—  How to choose colors that work well together from the Copic Color Wheel
—  Airbrushing with both the ABS-1 and the Air Compressor / ABS-3 setup and understand how each works.

COST / CLASS TIMES

Classes run from 9am-4pm. Cost is $120 per attendee ($60 for re-takes).

Copic Papercrafting Intermediate Certification Classes

Copic Papercrafting Intermediate Certification Classes are open to anyone who has successfully completed the Standard Certification class. In addition to the class application, you are also required to complete a coloring sample before you will be accepted to a class. If you have already taken the Standard Certification Class and would like to take your techniques to the next level, we encourage you to apply for this class!

Topic covered in class:
—  Shading, shadows, and color
—  Composition & design in Papercrafting
—  Coloring tricky situations (trees, reds, faces & skin tones, hair)
—  Applying coloring & design concepts
—  Improving design on your own

COST / CLASS TIMES

Classes run from 9am-4pm with a 2 hour lunch break, then from 6pm-8pm for the project.
Cost is $199 per attendee ($100 for re-takes).

Actually, I've been busy teaching... and loving every minute of it!  Last week Thursday I spent the day in Savannah with 16 of the most amazing Copic enthusiasts!  They were all SO excited to learn more about Copic markers...  each of them having a different level of experience with them.  They left the class ready to go out and color the world! 

That makes me happy!

Celebrating with Friends!

Good morning!  I'm back from my Florida "Hot Spot" book signing tour and I have to say... it was a BLAST!  I had such a great time celebrating the success of the book, chatting with friends (old and new), and sharing my love of coloring and crafting with such warm and welcoming folks. 

As you know... the first Monday of each month is Designer Crafts Blog Connection group blog hop... and today our theme is Celebrations!

Since I just got home from the trip and I haven't had any studio time so get crafty, I thought I'd share some of my favorite images from my trip. 

Everyone is concentrating SOOOO hard here at the My Favorite Things grand opening celebration event!  Thanks Kim and customers for such a warm welcome!

 

Here I'm at the beach in Naples, FL celebrating the 1/2 way point of the trip...  1,500 miles of driving...  it was nice to take a few minutes to play in the water.  Pure Bliss!

 

Here we are celebrating success!  What an amazing group (and TALENTED) of ladies here at Scrapbooks Etc. in Bonita Springs!  (Just look at those smiles!)

Kickin' It With Kim! (MFT)

It's HOT down here in Florida as I start my "Hot Spots" tour! Last night I KICKED it off in Ocala, FL at Priceless Scrapbooks and had such a great time with the gals there! We giggled, laughed, chuckled, snickered and even guffawed a few times.

And today I was lucky enough to spend the day with my friend Kim who owns My Favorite Things (MFT) and her family as we helped her KICK off her new GRAND OPENING of her store.

It's a sweet space all decked out in pink and it was so fun to see all of her stamps and the beautiful samples made by her team... simply lovely. I taught two classes there today and I had such an amazing time. The gals were SO willing to "try new things" and "not be afraid of the dark" in coloring. I enjoyed their positive attitudes and willingness to play and have fun.

One of the cards we did was this adorable little guy... Karate Boy.  I taught skin tones and how to color white... and everyone really kicked up their coloring a notch!  LOL

Okay.. I've KICKED around the whole "kickin" thing enough... nothing like KICKING a dead horse right?  Oh, wait... that's beating a dead horse... errrrrr, welll....... (grimace).

Well I'm off to bed now... I'm going to KICK off my morning pretty early and head south...  (sorry, I just couldn't resist!)

 

Copic is Going to Hawaii!

That's right...  Copic Certification Classes are headed to Hawaii!

Standard Certification classes will be held on November 4th and 5th with an Intermediate Certification class on November 6th.

Marianne Walker will be teaching all of the classes, and they will be held at the Hawaiian Graphics Store. 

As a special ONE TIME ONLY occasion, we are allowing people to take the Regular Certification class AND the Intermediate class in the same week. (The Hawaiian location only!)  People will need to sign up for both classes at the same time if they want to take both. 

Registration opens today with a non-refundable class fee.  Don't wait... we expect these classes to fill quickly!

Ink, Art, Friends, and Copic!

Phew...  I FINALLY am catching up after my week of Copic fun and instruction. 

Marianne Walker and I traveled to Berne, IN last week to teach a standard certification class to the employees of DRG Publishing (Annie's Attic and CardMaker Magazine) and a few other lucky Copic enthusiasts.  I have to say... it was one of the most entertaining groups I've worked with!  LOL  Those of you who have taken a class with me know that I can be a bit on the silly side... and Marianne... well, let's just say we had the group giggling the whole day. 

Here's a photo of me working with Tanya Fox, the EXTRAORDINARY gal who worked with us to get our book (The Copic Coloring Guide) published.  She is an amazing editor and a fabulous friend.  We had such a great time in the class... I can't wait to head back to have some more Copic fun in the future!  You can read more about the event HERE in the DRG news release. 

After an amazing day in Berne, Marianne and I drove to Indianapolis to meet up with Bianca Mandity for our very first Copic Ink and Art Workshop event.  Saturday dawned bright and sunny and the room quickly filled with excited participants and LOTS of paints, inks and supplies! 

Bianca and I tag-teamed it during the morning session where we taught 6 different techniques that combined Copic inks with a number of other mediums.  Then in the afternoon, we each taught a break-out session.  Bianca taught hand dying silks and I taught an acrylic medium canvas class. 

We asked students to be adventurous and experiment... and boy did they!  I was thrilled with the "what if" that became the motto for the day.  Every student left with oodles of new information and techniques that they can adapt and incorporate into their own artwork.  It was not only a hug success, but an amazing experience.  I can't wait to grow and expand the program! 

In other news... our book is FLYING off the shelves!  I couldn't be happier.  I'm getting lots of wonderful feedback and I am blown away by the kind comments and the overwhelming support.  Thank you ALL so very much... you are the reason I do what I do. 

I'll be back soon with more updates, some colored images (yes... I do still color sometimes LOL, and a list of classes and workshops that are coming up. 

Gina K. Inspiration Blog Hop

Happy Hump Day!

I'm so excited today to bring you projects from two of the new sets from Gina K. Designs.  I think the new "Free With 3" Elegant Elements set is soooooo versatile!  Wow...  absolutely gorgeous accent stamps that can be used alone or in combination with any other set. 

I used one of the circle patterns along with some of the NEW "just peachy" card stock.  I stamped the circles in salmon adirondack ink and then used my peach Sepia glitter pen to add a touch of glam.  I stamped a sentiment from Vintage Chic and paired them all up with the new patterned paper pack.  I love how easy and elegant this card is.. and it would be so easy to change up the colors and sentiment for any occasion.

This next card is one of my favorites!!!  I don't often get attached to my cards, but this one I did! 

I have a thing lately about lighthouses and this image from Theresa Momber's new "By the Sea" set is just gorgeous!  I colored the image with my Copics (colors listed below) and then airbrushed and played with some colorless blender to create the cloud-filled sky.  I combined Kraft, Black Onyx, and Cranberry Tart card stock and some hemp twine for a nice "seaside" look.  love, love, love the earthy feel of this card.

NEW EVENT... Copic Ink & Art Workshop

Join Copic Regional Art Instructors Bianca Mandity and Colleen Schaan for a day full of mixed media art fun as you explore combining your favorite mediums with Copic markers and inks. Students will attend a combined workshop in the morning and two smaller breakout sessions in the afternoon.

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00 Mixed-Media Marker Madness!

In this class youʼll learn a variety of mixed-media techniques that use Copic markers and inks. Walk through each technique step-by-step and then create your own sample. Finished pieces will be attached to shipping tags and bound together to create your very own technique booklet. The techniques that will be covered are: Copic & Bleach Bath, Found Object Resist, Layered Backgrounds, Hot Photos, Colorful Textures and Colorizing Transfers.

Afternoon Sessions will run from 1:00 – 3:00 and 3:30 – 5:30

Session A - Dyed and Gone to Heaven – Bianca Mandity
Create heavenly hand-dyed silk in this 2-hour class. Bind each stunning silk panel to create a magnificent art book, the perfect backdrop for your creative musings.    Techniques taught will be: faux batik, marbleizing silk, French ribbon dying, stenciling, glittering and doodling on silk.

Session B – Ink, Paper, Paint: A Colorful Story – Colleen Schaan
Tell your very own story with ink, paper and paint! Get lost in texture, color and form in this 2-hour experiment. I will teach you how to tint and mix different acrylic mediums and combine them with Copic inking techniques that will give you one-of-a-kind results. Design your own images from paper or fabric while glazing, layering and building your own masterpiece. Be free in your creative process. Watch what happens when we experiment, play and discover our way to a happy ending.  (Here's a sneak peak at part of my project.)

 

Class Kit/Materials Fee payable to instructors at beginning of class: $32

*Note - This is NOT a coloring class.  We are exploring "outside-the-box" ways to use Copic markers and inks and hope to instill the spirit of exploration and experimentation in our students.

Learning to be an ARTIST!

I've got to share!

I'm working on my next article deadline, our new Mixed Media event (details will be available in the next day or two!!!) and prepping for my classes in North Carolina next week. 

But I wanted to take a break and share a bit about my trip to Phoenix last week and my very first Intermediate Certification class!  Debbie Olson and I team taught the class and it was AMAZING fun!  OMG... I got such a high from everyone's excitement and enthusiasm and willingness to try new things.

The class is all about looking at yourself as an artist and continually pushing your work to the next level... and to do this, you need to experiment and try new things.  Sometimes things you aren't really comfortable with. 

In the Standard Certification class we give product basics and the rules of use... but in the Intermediate - wow... stand back...we ask you to break all of those rules! 

I'm so impressed with the progress everyone made in just the one day!  And I know students went home and practiced and pushed the boundaries and improved their art.  I'm so proud of all of them and so proud to have been a part of their growth. 

Here's just one of many images that students can practice with.  I tackled it after going through my training for the class and added it to my new ART portfolio.  I'm pretty excited about it... and I'm thrilled to be learning and challenging myself along side my students. What a Job!

Have I ever said that I love my job?  Well I DO!  What could be more fun than stamping, coloring card making and teaching?  How about traveling?  How about learning new art forms?  How about experimenting with amazing products?  Yup... that's what I get to do! 

I'm back to my travel schedule and I've added a few new things to my agenda this year.  Namely... Fine Art and Mixed Media.  I was so blessed to be asked to join the Copic Fine Art Instructor Team a while back and I'm super excited to be meeting the rest of the team in Phoenix next week for a meeting and the NAMTA show.  We will be discussing what types of art forms each of us brings to the table (most of the team members have Fine Art degrees) and planning new educational opportunities for our customers.  (Bianca and I have already started planning our first Mixed Media Event).  I've been working on my "art portfolio" for that and this is one of my favorite pieces.

I've also been prepping for some store visits in North Carolina at the end of the month.  I'll be visiting Peanut Doodles on Tuesday, April 26 and Dorothy's Stamp & Scraps on Thursday, April 28th.  Here's one of the cards we are going to be making at Dorothy's Stamp & Scraps.  I LOVE this image!!!  It's a Loralie Designs stamp.  I got a little doodle crazy on the frame... but who cares!  I still think it's adorable.

Something New...

Copic Ink & Art Retreat

Colleen Schaan (Hey, That's Me!) and Bianca Mandity are hosting an amazing Copic mixed-media workshop the first weekend in June in Indianapolis. Applications have not gone out yet, as we are still finalizing class details, but the class will be open to anyone. This will be an all-day class, specifically for people who want to experiment with Copic markers and make some wonderful, serendipitous creations.

Lights... Camera... ACTION!

Did you know that I am TOTALLY camera shy?  Anyone who has asked if they could take photos during a class knows this... I always reply, "Sure...as long as you don't take photos of me!"  LOL 

That's why when my good friend Julianna Hudgins asked me to be a guest on her TV show Inspirations by Julianna I sort of freaked out and said, "Ummm, really?  Me?  (Nervous Giggle)...  ummm, I guess so,"  secretly hoping that a case of Typhoid Fever or Scarlet Mumps would temporarily put me out of commission. 

But, I guess I'll have to put on my big girl panties and suck it up, because I'm going LIVE at noon on Monday, February 28th!!!

I'll be making a BIG announcement (no... I'm NOT pregnant!) and demoing how to color and create this adorable card.

Class Information and Updates

I'm back from CHA and I'm working on getting caught up from the trip and gearing up for the next few months.  February is my "work in the office" month... no traveling events!  Time to book locations for classes, prep projects, and tackle the dreaded taxes.

I've also updated my Copic Certification Class page with information about all of the standard certification classes that I am going to be teaching this year and ALL of the intermediate classes that the entire group will be teaching.  You can see the class schedule and full details HERE on my Copic Certification Page.

The intermediate class that was held in LA the day before CHA was amazing!  Debbie Olson and Sherrie Siemens taught it and WOW... they rocked the room!  Everyone enjoyed themselves and so many of the students thought it was good enough that they'd like to take it again (yes... there's that much info covered!)  If you have taken the standard certification class and are considering the intermediate... SIGN UP!  We've heard people say that they are afraid to apply because of the "show me" portion of the application... but seriously... give it a try!  You never know unless you attempt it! 

Sorry about the lack of eye candy today.  Being in office mode means I haven't been in the studio for a while... but I'll be back later this week with something fun.

Copic Class Updates

I'm back from Chicago and playing catch up on all of my work.  I had such a GREAT time with the other gals on the Copic Certification team... what an amazing group of women!  Here we are after a surprise lunch cruise on the Spirit of Chicago... a huge boat that cruised up and down the Chicago shoreline.  We are all a bit windblown and chilled, but we couldn't resist huddling up for a photo or two. 

During the trip we all attended the very first Intermediate Copic Certification class that was taught by Marianne Walker.  What a blast... and I can say, it's a hard-core class full of color theory, design tips and coloring concepts.  I can't wait to start teaching this one! 

We discussed possible locations for both standard and intermediate classes for 2011 and I will be posting my own list very soon (sometime this week).  So be watching for that.

It's that time of year... (and Copic news and updates)

Well, it's almost Halloween, which means every store has at least one aisle of Christmas stuff out already!  With only about two months left before the big day, it's time to start crafting those holiday greetings!

Here's one of the cards I taught in my It's a Copic Christmas class down in Jacksonville, FL a few weeks ago.  It's one of my favorite holiday images (I Believe from Flourishes).  It looks a bit intimidating, but it's actually pretty easy to color.  The gals in my class had such a good time and were all astonished at their finished pieces.  (I wasn't... I KNEW they would rock the image!)

Garden Party Dress!

I'm back from New York and headed back out this weekend to Orlando and then off to Savannah!  I've got a few posts "scheduled" so you won't miss me while I'm gone.  LOL

I've just started submitting some designs to magazines in the hopes of getting them picked up.   Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time and I often miss the call deadlines.  (blush)  Here is a card that I actually got in ON TIME and it even focused on the theme...but alas... it wasn't quite what they were looking for. 

I just figure that makes it fair game for blogging!  LOL  

The stamp is from Loralie Designs... I met Loralie and Susan (her CEO) at summer CHA and OMG... these gals are a hoot!!!  Both of them have bubbly and charming personalities... just like Loralie's images! 

This gal is called "Fairy Tale Romance" and I think she is just lovely!  I think it is ingenious that the stamp image is of the "bust" only so that you can create your own fabric (or paper) skirt.  Here I gave her a breezy, tissue-paper tutu so she will be the envy of every woman at the garden party!

Kicking Butt in New York!

That's right folks... me... kicking butt!  LOL

I'm headed to Carle Place, NY today to spend the weekend demoing Copic markers at a Grand Opening for a new Dick Blick store.  I am SO excited!!!!  I get to sit and color and people can watch (I hope I don't crack under the pressure!) and chat and ask questions. 

Since this is more of a fine art venue and not as much a paper crafting crowd, I've been working on expanding my "skills" and I've been busy coloring Manga.  OMG.. I have to tell you..  Coloring LARGE is SO much fun!!!  Most of the images I have are full size 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper with one large image.  It's so different from coloring in small stamped images... I have so much more room to add textures and play with different techniques.  It's also quite different in that most Manga is done with minimal blending (at least that's what I've discovered in my research).  I have a hard time with this... because I'm the queen of blend, blend, and blend some more!  LOL   But I've been playing and coloring and really having fun. 

Here's one of the images I did for practice.  Since I don't really draw, I went to the store and got a book with 500 Manga images that you can download and print and color... just what I needed!  LOL  This is one that I'm pretty happy with so far.  I've still got a ways to go... but I'm having fun learning!

My Crafty Canvas!

A quick THANK YOU to all of the wonderful participants of my Copic Certification class yesterday in Morrow, GA.  I had a BLAST and it was thrilling to see you all get as excited about Copic Markers as I get!

Today I want to share a special project with you.  (If you were in my class yesterday, you were lucky enough to get to see it in person!)

I will be teaching a Copic Canvas Memory class at an upcoming trade show in September.  (If you are a manufacturer or a store owner and are interested in taking the class... check out the details HERE.) 

This is the project that we will be creating... 

I am so totally in "love" with it!!! 

I'm typically not a scrapper, but I have been playing around a lot with some new products and tools and I'm having a blast doing more altered/decor work. 

This project shows how to use Copic products in conjunction to some other amazing products on the market.  The base is actually a 10x10 stretched canvas from Canvas Corp.  They have a ton of different sizes to work with and they offer other fun surfaces too!  

I wanted to "make" as many of my embellishments as possible, so I turned to my new eclips by Sizzix and printed out "LOVE" (from the Starter and Rockin' Jane cartridge).  I have to tell you... it's the coolest tool I own!  It's super easy to use (trust me... I'm electronically challenged and even I can work it with ease LOL).  Just plug it in, turn it on, insert the cartridge, pick which image (check the screen or the handy-dandy booklet), set the size and number, add it to the que, and press the button... away it goes!  I'm just beginning to see all of the amazing possibilities for projects! 

I also used some dies with my Big Shot Pro to create the canvas label (Tim Holtz Styled Labels) and the felt flowers (Bigz 3-D Flowers). 

Can you see where I'm going with this?  ...by creating my own "neutral or white" embellishments, I can then use any of my 334 Copic markers to decorate them to match my project!!!  How cool is that?

I hope you LOVE the project as much as I do... it really was fun to create and I can't wait to teach the class in Orlando!

Copic Certification News!!!

Here's what you've been waiting for...   details of the new Intermediate Copic Certification Class!  (Copied directly from Marianne's Blog!

Intermediate Certification Details

Intermediate Certification
Chicago, Oct. 22nd, Taught by Marianne Walker, Project by Sherrie Siemens and Debbie Olson
(the next session will be before Winter CHA, then regularly thereafter)

The application for the intermediate class will be available in about a week. Below are the technical details of the class for those of you who are interested in attending. I will have more information about specific topics as time progresses:

• Class size is limited, so apply early.

• Class runs from 9am to 4pm with a 1 hr. lunch break, then 6 to 8pm for the project. You MUST be available to attend the whole day or you will not be listed as having completed the training. People who cannot attend the evening event will not be accepted into the class.

• Fee: $199, due within 3 days of accepted application. NO EXCEPTIONS! Demand is very high for this first session and you will be bumped if you do not pay within the 3 days. Same cancellation policy as with regular certification (see the details section where regular applications are posted).

Important Note: You must have completed your regular certification prior to submitting the application for the Intermediate class. There are no exceptions.

Application Process:
• As soon as you get the application fill it out COMPLETELY and submit it.

• No applications are accepted early.

• You cannot save a space for a friend- they must be accepted on the same basis as everyone else.

• This application is harder to fill out than a standard application, so fill it out and return it right away.

• To apply you must prove a mastery of basic topics covered in a regular certification, as the instructors will NOT be reviewing any topics covered in a regular class.

• Coloring will be required in the application.

• The application will be a downloadable PDF. This will need to be electronically returned to us as a jpeg. The best method is to print it out, complete the application and follow the directions, then scan it or take a clean, easy to see photo of the relevant sections for us to review. We MUST decline applications that are not returned properly, since demand is so high for this session.

• DO NOT SEND ANY ADDITIONAL CARD EXAMPLES! This will not change your chances of getting into the class. The examples you provide in the application will be exactly the same as everyone else, and they prove to us that you have practiced coloring and are ready for the next level.

• Applications will be reviewed as soon as we get them, and you will be notified upon acceptance.

Don't feel bad if you are not accepted. Space is very limited, especially since this is the first class. We are keeping applications neutral and will not accept people simply because they are a "craft-lebrity" or "a big name in crafting". We need to assure that everyone attending the class is dedicated to coloring already and driven to learning techniques that will take their work to a new level. The instructor has a lot to cover in a short time, and people who aren't confident in their techniques could slow down the whole class.

There will be more Intermediate Classes as time passes, so if you don't get in the first time, don't give up! Practice all of the blending techniques, practice smooth coloring,...just practice, practice, practice! Many of the topics covered in the class I have talked about over the years here on my blog. The difference is having the instructor right there to help you through your tough situation. Ideally, everyone would have a chance to get the one-on-one attention that will be provided in the class, but it is very hard at first.

Before I leave, I have to finish stamping some images (so I have something to color while sitting in the airport), do a bit of DT work, clean the house (we are having friends come visit this weekend), do laundry, and I should probably think about packing sometime before Monday morning too!  LOL

Home Again!

I'm back... and all I can say is, "I LOVE Puerto Rico!" 

I had such a terrific time teaching classes, getting to know the other instructors, and meeting the amazing students at this years Puerto Rico Scrapbook Event 2010. 

I started the event by teaching a Copic Certification event to a room full of total Copic Newbies!!!  It was SO cool to introduce them all to the colorful world of Copic and to see them catch the excitement!  I was so thrilled to have such a great mix of students...from painters, to calligraphers, to graffiti artist, to paper crafters, to fabric artists, to mix media artists... all coming together to learn and share!  

That night, all of the instructors meet up at a local restaurant soak up the local culture and cuisine.  Here are some of the dishes we ate... I'm not exactly sure what it was LOL... but it was TASTY!

The next morning I launched into the first of three full days teaching to the most excited audience I've ever had!  The folks in Puerto Rico really know how to show their love!  I almost felt like a mini-celebrity...  doing photo shoots and signing autographs.  What a rush! 

Each night, the attendees met to crop, chat, sing, dance and drink!  I've never been to a crop that was more fun!  I learned to Zummba, drink Mojitos (yum!), speak a little bit of Spanish, and most importantly... RELAX! 

I can't thank Yamille and Juan Carlos (and their AMAZING staff) enough for the experience.  I also want to thank Julianna Hidgins and Tiffany Windsor (not photoed) for being willing to spend some time sharing their experiences and expertise with me.

My Dream Job!

I have to say, I LOVE my job!  I'm so very blessed to be able to do what I love and be able to work from home when I want and travel when I want.  It's truly a dream job! 

And that dream job just got even better!  I'm expanding my region... (it's all a part of my master plan to take over the world!  LOL)

Sally Lynn is leaving the Regional Copic Instructor team and will be focusing on teaching consumer classes... so I'm going to be taking on the East Coast!

I'm passing a few of my southern states to the uber talented Jenn Balcer who will now be covering Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama (in addition to her original southern mid-west region) and I'll be keeping Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and adding a WHOLE LOTTA states!  LOL 

East Coast... Here I Come! 

I've added two more "Eastern" locations to my Copic Certification Class schedule for the fall... you can check out all of my classes HERE. 

And speaking of dream jobs and travels...  I've been working like a fiend to get ready to head south... way down south where the water is warm and the sand is sparkling... 

Next week I'm off to Puerto Rico to teach a certification class and then a whole slew of consumer classes at the Puerto Rico Scrapbook Event.  Here's a peek at one of the mini-albums that we are going to be making!  Don't you just love those bright Caribbean colors? 

After all that teaching, I'll be taking a few days off and Nate will join me for a brief anniversary celebration.  I can't wait!

Guess what???  The Holy Grail of Copic Use is now available for purchase!!!  (Only to previously certified folks...)

If you have taken a certification class in the past you will automatically be mailed a link to purchase one.  (Emails have started going out this week...)   When you go to check-out from the link you need to tell us which session and instructor you attended so we can verify your records. One manual per person. Pay Pal may tell you you can order more, but you cannot.

Meanwhile, please DO NOT call or send us an e-mail about buying the manual and tell us you were not sent a link yet. We will be sending out notices all this week. If you do not get a link by May 10th, then you may contact us.

NOTE: We will only be selling manuals until June 30th. After that date you will have to re-take a certification class for $40 to be able to get a new manual.

On a personal note... I've been busy!  We are continuing work on my art studio and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  The walls are painted (a sage green) and the floor is stained (a terracotta look) and the upper cabinets are hung (white)... the lower cabinets go in tomorrow and then we work on the window and door trim...  I'm SO excited!  I'll be posting photos soon!

I've got purple pinkies, teal thumbs, and fuchsia fingers...

I'm busy getting ready for a Copic Certification Class in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on Monday and I've been re-inking my class markers...  Nothing like a little color to brighten your day. 

While I'm there, I'm also teaching some Copic classes at The Stamp Shack.  These classes filled so fast we had to add a whole additional day to the itinerary!  LOL  Here is a picture of my prep for one of the projects we are doing... and you thought I only colored stamps!  LOL   (I'll share the finished project after I get back... I don't want to spoil the surprise for the folks taking the class!)

Never Stop Sparkling!

WOW... what a great weekend I had!  I was lucky enough to attend a trade show where I taught two Copic classes.  I was beyond humbled by the enthusiastic and joyful students I had in both classes. 

The first class created a mixed album full of altered goodness... from ribbon to fabric and gems to flowers...all a mix of inky and colorful fun.   And while there wasn't nearly enough time to finish it all - they buckled in and held on tight as I plowed through the techniques. 

My second class was HUGE... I had over 60 people at tables and a whole audience standing in the back looking on as I covered the basics of the Copic product line and how to blend with them.  In that class we slowed it down a bit and managed to practice and play and create two lovely cards.  (I shared one last week and will share the other later.) 

One of the most enjoyable parts of the weekend was the Sample Making Frenzy.  What a blast to have people get the chance to play with our markers - some of them for the very first time!  I used this adorable Atti-Tude Loves to Sparkle image from Stamping Bella and some pretty pink paper from Bazzill Basics and everyone had the chance to get colorful and make this sweet card.  Of course - we had to add a bit of bling with the Atyou Spica Glitter pens too! 

I had an absolutely fabulous time.  I met some amazing store owners (A big Thanks goes out to The Scrapbook Girl for the Rockin' Sweatshirt!)  and some super cool manufacturers (you will be hearing about some new companies here soon!!!) 

And of course - A big shout out to Ron...  thanks for adding laughter to my days.

Stained Glass

I want to thank each and every one of you for visiting my blog during our Three Day Mega Hop for JustRite Stamps!  WOW... I have just a quick post today as I'm getting packed and ready to head to the airport!  I'm off to Framingham, MA for the weekend to teach two HUGE, sold-out Copic classes and to mix and mingle at the Collins Group Trade Show.  It's sort of like a little, mini-CHA with lots of great manufacturers showcasing their products and three days of classes and learning and fun!  I'm SO looking forward to it!

One of the classes I'm teaching is a basics Getting Crafty With Copics and I will be speeding through the coloring/numbering system and teaching the basic blending techniques.  Here is the card that the participants will be creating...  the image is called Stained Glass Magnolias and it is from Magenta.  It's a pretty simple card, but I really want them to focus on the techniques and not the design. 

I'll TRY to remember to take pics and I'll share more about the weekend when I get back.
