I'm a Goddess!

That's right... I'm a Goddess!  At least I felt that way when my sweet friend Julianna Hudgins called me with some exciting news and a special request to participate in the Spellbinders Abilities and Beyond Blog Frenzy.

Julianna recently announced her partnership with Spellbinders Paper Arts... as a licenced designer for a new line of dies that are FAN-TAB-U-LOUS!  OMG... so unlike anything that is out there... so fresh, so unique, so... Julianna!  She asked if I would like to take part in the reveal of her new line and I jumped at the chance.

Here's a quick background... I met Julianna in Puerto Rico almost 2 years ago when we were both teaching at an event there.  I was just starting out as a business person in the crafting industry and completely overwhelmed and boggled at the whole thing.  Julianna and I clicked instantly.  She generously took me under her wing and has been my mentor and friend ever since... helping me grow into the confident business woman and artist that I am today. 

Why is that story important to the release?  Well... because my favorite die set in the new line is called Jewel Goddess.  It is this amazing mix of feminine, tribal, voluptuous curves that represent woman - goddess... and there is no one in the world that represents woman power like Julianna.  She not only is a goddess herself, but she empowers other women to find and embrace their own inner goddess... just like she did for me. 

I have a few favorite "inspirational - feel good" quotes that I wanted to make into cards, and I knew this reveal was the perfect opportunity to pull them out.  I created three separate cards (with similar lines and feel) that I can send out to women in my life who need to embrace their inner goddess!

Here's a quick tutorial for making them...

1.  Supplies Needed:

• Computer printed sentiment or stamped verse
• vellum
• Jewels Goddess die
• 2-3 Copic Various Inks
• Colorless Blender (not pictured)
• Sponge or inking tool
• black cardstock (base and matting)
• white cardstock
• multiliner (black)

2.  Apply 1-2 drops of each color ink onto inking tool.

3.  Apply 1 quick squeeze of colorless blender onto inking tool. 

4.  Pounce inking tool onto surface with quote or sentiment.  (Re-ink if necessary) 

5.  Make sure enough surface is inked to cover die cut area.

6.  Die cut inked quote with Jewel Goddess. 

7.  Adhere cut goddess shape to black cardstock and trim a thin border. 

8.  Repeat steps 2 and 3 and pounce onto vellum. 

9.  Fold vellum in half and draw a wing shape.

10.  Cut out wing shape and attach it to the back of the matted quote.  

11.  Attach to the middle of a piece of white cardstock with foam tape, doodle a frame around the edges and adhere to a black card base. 

Talk about simple... and meaningful!  Here are two of the other cards in the set... using the same inking technique on both Zentangled goddess shapes and on vellum for flames.

Copic Certification Class Changes and Updates

Copic has some new and exciting things in store for you this year and I'm excited to share our newly-updated Copic Certification program. We have listened to our VALUED customers, and have made some changes to our program. 

• Beginning in 2012, we will be offering "back to back" Certifications for our Regular and Intermediate classes in many locations! This will make it more cost effective for our students who have to travel for our classes.  This option may not be advisable for everyone... keep in mind, the skills needed for the intermediate class will still be required as we DO NOT take class time during the Intermediate to go over basic blending skills.  You choose what's best for YOU.
  
• You will be doing more "hands on" coloring during the classes and making a portfolio to take home with you. This is a major change to the Standard class!  You asked for it and we've listened!  Students will be coloring specially drawn images during the class allowing for more personalized feedback.  Students will leave the class with a portfolio of their work and additional images for practice. 
  
• Classes are no longer geared specifically to stores or instructors.  Everyone is welcome!  There will be no waiting period for "enthusiasts" to apply for the classes.  ALL applicants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis at the time they apply.  While we still cover the product basics (the foundation of successful Copic use), we will no longer focus on marketing or teaching topics (although questions about these are still very welcome).
• Apply On-Line!  We've made it even easier to apply for classes with our new "on-line" application process!  Just visit the Copic website (or my Copic Certification Class page) and click on the Apply On-Line link.

Copic Papercrafting Standard Certification Classes

The Copic Certification Class encompasses education of the most important aspects of Copic’s product lines.   It includes hands-on education of product knowledge, blending techniques, answers questions to common problems, and testing and selecting your inks and papers. You will receive a kit of Copic products, a 68 page manual and an opportunity to make a portfolio of all the techniques you learn in class.  You will also have an opportunity to sample each of our markers.  We cover their function and the differences between each one.

Things covered in class:
—  Three common mistakes and how to identify, test and use your materials
—  Four different blending techniques
—  How to create texture and erase mistakes
—  The Copic numbering system
—  How to choose colors that work well together from the Copic Color Wheel
—  Airbrushing with both the ABS-1 and the Air Compressor / ABS-3 setup and understand how each works.

COST / CLASS TIMES

Classes run from 9am-4pm. Cost is $120 per attendee ($60 for re-takes).

Copic Papercrafting Intermediate Certification Classes

Copic Papercrafting Intermediate Certification Classes are open to anyone who has successfully completed the Standard Certification class. In addition to the class application, you are also required to complete a coloring sample before you will be accepted to a class. If you have already taken the Standard Certification Class and would like to take your techniques to the next level, we encourage you to apply for this class!

Topic covered in class:
—  Shading, shadows, and color
—  Composition & design in Papercrafting
—  Coloring tricky situations (trees, reds, faces & skin tones, hair)
—  Applying coloring & design concepts
—  Improving design on your own

COST / CLASS TIMES

Classes run from 9am-4pm with a 2 hour lunch break, then from 6pm-8pm for the project.
Cost is $199 per attendee ($100 for re-takes).

New Copic Colors!

Announcing -  12 New Copic Colors!!!!

People are already talking about it...

In February 2012 these carefully chosen colors will be available in the Sketch Marker style, as well as Various Ink, bringing us to 358 total Copic colors.

G43 Pistachio, G46 Mistletoe, BG57 Jasper, BG90 Gray Sky, E84 Khaki, E89 Pecan,
BV34 Bluebell, V22 Ash Lavender, V28 Eggplant, RV52 Cotton Candy, R56 Currant, YR27 Tuscan Orange

  

I got a chance to play with the new colors and I am SO excited about them.  These are some of my favorite colors!!!  They really help to flesh out the current color families and they fill in some of the blanks, pairing with individual markers that were already produced. 

Here are some samples of the new colors and suggestions for which markers to pair them up with.

Two new markers pair up with the currently "lonely" G40 to give a nice, rich green combination.

 

A new shade (BG90) helps to lighten the other BG9's in the collection and allow for more contrast.

 

Two new colors flesh out the big jump in the E8's that were introduced last year.  I LOVE this combination and I'm thrilled with the additional two shades!  (This combination looks green next to green tones and brown next to earth tones.) 

 

My new favorite color is YR27.  I use the YR2's a great deal and am thrilled that my color family can now go even darker!

  The violet collection was somewhat lacking... so two new colors (V22 and V28) flesh out the current V2 color family.  LOVE the contrast the two new shades create!

 

A fun new color is R56 and it blends beautifully with the current R59 to create a dark, currant color.  When I blended them together, I thought they were both fairly dark. Since I like to have a lot of contrast, I added RV32 as the "light" shade in a blend and it worked beautifully.  Other colors that work well as blend-able lights for this group are R81 and RV11.

 

As you know, I love my blues... and the new BG57 blends beautifully with our current "loner" BG53.  If you want to create even more contrast, you can start with a layer of B000 for a bluer tone or a BG11 for a greener tone. 

 

Another current loner (BV31) is paired up with the new rich BV34.  This is a gorgeous combination!  To create even more contrast, start with a lighter layer of BV0000 and/or go even darker with BV17 or BV29.  YUM!

 

People wanted pinks... and I think the new RV52 really hits the spot.  It pairs up with our current loner RV55 to blend into a soft cotton candy sweetness.  If you want to darken it up a bit... add a touch of RV66 for contrast.

I can tell a lot of thought went into picking and creating these colors to help expand the current colors... not just to create more colors.

Cold Crusin'

I'm back from vacation... only it didn't really FEEL like a vacation.  Vacation to me means hot sand, bright sun, and warm waters.  This vacation was bitter winds, heavy seas, and dreary cloud cover. All in all though, I wasn't working... so I guess it still qualifies!  (Below is the one night that the cloud cover broke up and we were able to watch the sun set.)  Beautiful!

We took a 4 day cruise from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas.  Here's how it went:

Day 1 - Monday. 

• Cloudy and some rain showers in Port Canaveral, but that's okay... we are just boarding and heading south... it's bound to warm up. 
• Boarding was easy... and our luggage was brought quickly to our room... I mean, closet. 
• Watched the ship launch and head out to sea.  I think we were trying to outrun the roiling storm clouds... yeah, didn't happen.
• Dinner was an event.  Food on the last cruise we went on was amazing.  This time... not so much.  Maybe it's just the "first night" kinks. 
• Did I mention the heavy seas?  No?  Pardon me while I careen from wall to wall as I stagger down the hallway.
• Got back to the cabin and found this adorable towel monkey just hanging around. 

Day 2 - Tuesday.

• Woke up to the captain announcing our visit to Cocoa Cay was cancelled due to the 40 mile an hour winds and boiling waves. (We were told we would try again on the way back.)
• Spent the day on the boat.  The captain turned off all engines so we could "drift" for the day... otherwise it would have been too windy to be up on deck.  (Can you see how empty the deck was anyway?  It was COLD!)

• Took some Dramamine.  Took some more.
• Played 3 card in the casino.  Lost some money.
• Captain's Dinner.  Got all dressed up.  Ate some food (it was better today, but still not stellar.)
• Watched a show.  Giggled as the dancers tried to stay upright on the heaving boat. 

Day 3- Wednesday: Nassau.

• Docked alongside a number of other cruise ships. 

• Sat on deck for a bit and then went inside to play gin.  (Too cold and windy on deck.)
• Got on a huge catamaran and went out of the port to go snorkeling.  (Didn't raise sails.... just motored...)
• Got into the water (OMG...  everything is instantly numb!) and spent an hour body surfing on the waves and googling the cool fish and coral reef below.
• Got out of the water (OMG... everything is instantly flash frozen by the wind!) and sailed back to the boat.  (This time they did raise the sails and we FLEW back.)

• Took a HOT shower in the shower (I mean sink) and went to dinner.
• Lost some more money at the casino and saw another show. (We were docked still, so the dancers had no issues tonight.)

Day 4 - Thursday: Coco Cay.

• Ahhhh, the wind was down to about 20 mph and the waves a seemingly calm 5 feet - so we could visit! 
• Hopped on board the tender and bobbed and bounced our way to the island amid cries of, "Oh Lord... I'm going to be sick!" 
• Found a lounge chair on the beach (not a difficult task as it was mostly empty - just a few brave souls.)

• Went on a nature walk...  saw some iguanas, a cat, and a hen.  Exciting!!!

• Had some ship "BBQ" for lunch and then headed back to the boat as the sun (which had come out for a few brief moments) quickly disappeared.
• Found a lounge chair on the deck and relaxed.  The sun came out!!!!
• Had our last dinner (got a little goofy with the waiters, sang, danced, and did magic tricks).
• Watched a show.  Adult comedy... pretty funny after a glass or two of wine.
• Packed and got our luggage out into the hallway. 

Day 5 - Friday: Back to Port

• Woke up and headed down to debark.  An easy process.  Getting my land legs back... not so easy!  LOL

I'm back to work and trying to get all caught up and prepped for Christmas.  And I'm dreaming of our next vacation... someplace WARM and SUNNY!

I'm a Color Addict!

Hello Readers!  I've got happy news to share with you all... 

I was asked to join the Make It Crafty Design Team, and I said, "YES!" (Well of course I said yes... it's a DREAM team and I am honored to be a part of it!)

You might remember my post about being a guest designer for MIC for their Texture Challenge a few weeks ago.  Well, shortly after, Zoe asked me to stay on as a permanent member of her team.  I am just SO thrilled!  Zoe and the girls are SO welcoming and the group really shares a love of coloring and sharing.  I hope that I can be as inspirational to others as they are to me.  

I'm a HUGE fan of the MIC digital images (they have red rubber too for those of you NOT into digis) and I am so excited to be able to play with them on a regular basis.  

Here is one of my latest creations...  I just LOVE these mischievous little guys!  I suppose getting home for the holidays IS sometimes a challenge.  LOL  

This image actually works for a number of recent coloring challenges over at MIC... texture on the wood, coloring white (rocket stripes), coloring snow (ummmm, snow) and light from a single point light source (fuse).  I'm pretty excited with how it turned out!

Thursday, December 1st will be the last certification class of the year... It's in Atlanta - and it's going to be big! 

So big in fact, that we are bringing in an additional instructor! 

The class filled to capacity quickly and we know there are still folks who want to join us, so Marianne Walker will be joining me for the class!  We will be team teaching - and having a blast doing it!

Copic Meeting Overview and Catching Up

There's nothing like a little time with friends, crisp ocean air and planning for the future to make me happy!

I'm just catching up from the Copic team meeting in Eugene, OR last week where we brainstormed, planned, created, and played... all with enthusiasm and gusto.  Here are a few peeks at the fun we had...

The entire team...  Sherrie Siemens, Debbie Olson, Lori Craig, Nancy Zenke, Me, Marianne Walker, Jenn Balcer and Sharron Harnist hanging at the coast after a grueling day of meetings.

Our "gruelling" meetings... we did some serious work!  We worked on improving both our Standard and Intermediate Certification courses, created a list of locations and times for our 2012 classes, and brainstormed new and exciting opportunities!

(More information about above topics coming in the next few months...)

  We also took a brief art lesson from Ken (president of Imagination International Inc.) He brought in a bunch of radishes and taught us a bit about sketching.  (Surprise-Surprise... I have to learn to "let go" and not try to control my lines!) 

We also got a chance to meet with Richard Owens and Kacy Kizer, the two new Social Media specials.  They are doing an amazing job of getting Copic users connected and informed... lots of fun things for 2012!

One of the things that Richard talked about was using Twitter.  I've always avoided it because I really don't need another "time sucker" in my life, but after learning a bit more about it and how to use it properly, well.. guess who has a Twitter account?  LOL  (You can see my Twitter widget in the sidebar... about half way down.)  I will be using Twitter only as a business/Copic connection.  I will be posting info about new techniques, tutorials, and upcoming classes there... so please follow me!  (I promise... I won't overwhelm you with chirping.  LOL) 

There is also a "tweet" button and a FB "like" button at the end of each blog post now... so if you really like what I have to say, you can "Tweet" or "Like" it and forward it to others!  (THANK YOU!)

Copic Stamp Paper

• slight yellow tint
• smooth surface
• maker catches just slightly on surface
• no streaks
• darkens slightly with layering
• easy blending
• some feathering with lots of layers
• ink soaks through very quickly
• excellent blender effects

Overall Thoughts - an excellent paper to use with Copic markers, but NOT a thick card stock-like paper.  It isn't as thin as printer paper, but it isn't as thick as card stock.

Overall Thoughts - This is a very nice paper for Copic users who want a denser paper.  I personally prefer softer papers, but I do find this surface to be very compatible.  It take a bit more work to blend (the flick application technique is a must).  Since the ink sits on the surface for some time, it can get gummy if you layer on too much ink.

Overall Thoughts - What a find!  I love this paper... it is very similar to the X-Press It Blending Card.  Great for beginner or experienced Copic users alike.  Super easy blending and very, very little feathering.  (I had to really soak it to get it to feather at all.)  Love the fact that I can get really crisp blender effects with this!

Neenah Classic Crest

• excellent blender effects initially but they fade as they dry

Overall Thoughts - I actually like this paper because I learned on it... BUT, I would not recommend this paper for a beginner Copic user as it is too soft and tends to feather a lot.  It blends easily.

Overall Thoughts - LOVE this paper!!!  It's my "go-to" paper... I recommend it for beginner and experienced Copic users alike.  Love that the markers flow so smoothly and the blending is effortless.

• streaky unless very saturated
• darkens with a lot of layers
• blending a bit more difficult
• minimal feathering
• ink sits on surface for a bit then soaks in quickly

Overall Thoughts - A compatible paper that I would recommend for experienced Copic users.  (Too difficult to blend for beginners.)  It uses a bit more ink to create smooth blends than a softer paper.   A good choice for colorers who want a denser paper.

Overall Thoughts - I was very surprised by this paper.  Not one that I had used or tested before and I didn't think I was going to like it, but I DO!  It's a good paper for those used to a soft surface.  It would be a good option for beginner Copic users.

My final thoughts for the day... I really think that ALL of these papers are good Copic compatible papers!  Each surface is a bit different - so you really need to know your inking style and your own personal preference for paper type. 

My top two picks today...  X-Press It Blending Card and Make It Color - these are actually my very favorite card stocks to work with when using Copics.  Love, Love, Love them! I also want to give a "surprise" shout out to the Hammermill Color Copy paper... it definitely is at the top of my recommendation list.

Copic Compatibility: Testing Cardstock - Part I

"What paper should I use with my Copics?"

Inquiring minds want to know, paper companies want to know, store owners want to know, Copic users want to know!  So I'm here to share my own findings on some of the most common papers on the market. 

Now... there are a LOT of papers on the market... and during the next few days I'm going to focus on card stock weight paper.  I'll do more posts later about all of the different art paper options out there too!  Of course, I haven't tested EVERY paper... and I'm sure you probably have some papers in your crafty stash that I don't mention.  That's okay.  After you see how I "test" my papers and the things I look for, you can conduct your own compatibility testing. 

Let's Begin.  Papers Being Tested Today:

Overall Thoughts - Too yellow for my personal taste, but a nice ivory paper option.  It is on the soft side, so it does bleed easily.  If you are a beginner or if you color heavy, this is not a paper for you.

Overall Thoughts -I LOVE the color of this paper!  It is a soft paper, so it blends super easily, but it will feather with lots of layers.  If you are used to a soft paper... this is the perfect option for an ivory or off white paper!  It is not a good paper for beginners or heavy handed coloring.

Petallics Snow Willow

• gray/silver very shimmery

• no streaks even when not saturated
• very light - does not darken at all with layers
• blends well with a flicking technique - more like vellum reactions
• no feathering
• ink sits on tip for a long time (can get gummy with laying)
• subtle blender effects

Overall Thoughts - A very interesting paper!  I actually like the very different look and blending style.  I would not use it all the time, but it is nice to have when I want a special look.  I would not recommend it for beginners, but experienced Copic users would have fun with this surface.  This paper is almost holographic in it's look when you move it from side to side.

Petallics Spearmint

• yellow/green very shimmery
• smooth coating but the paper isn't smooth
• marker floats across the surface
• no streaks but very "blotchy"
• darkens only a little with LOTS of layering
• blends like vellum - marker tips pick up some color
• some feathering with a lot of ink
• crisp blender effects

Overall Thoughts - I don't care for the color (too greenish) but the shimmer is nice.  The splotchy ink detracts from the colored image and therefore it wouldn't be a paper I would recommend unless you wanted this effect.

Iced White Metallic

• slight ivory color - slight shimmer
• smooth surface
• marker floats across the surface
• no streaks even when not fully saturated
• darkens slightly with layers
• easy blending
• minimal feathering with lots of layers

Overall Thoughts - I LOVE this paper for an off white option if I don't need to use the blender marker.  It's just slightly ivory and has a very subtle shimmer.  It's easy to blend on and would be great for beginners and experienced users alike.  Watch out for featering if you are going to layer a lot of ink.

Arctic Snow Metallic

• gold/white shimmer
• smooth coating but surface isn't smooth
• marker floats across the surface
• no streaks
• darkens just slightly 
• blends like a vellum, marker tip will pick up ink
• no feathering
• ink sits on top for a long time but does not get gummy
• crisp blender effects

Overall Thoughts - this is an interesting ppaer.  I might use it for special projects.  I wouldn't recommend it for the beginner Copic user.  It is very difficult to get lots of contrast, so expect subtle blending and colors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

My final thoughts for the day... I was surprised by some of these surfaces.  Even though they may not be what I would recommend for daily Copic use, there are some that would be fun to use every once-in-a-while... like the Arctic Snow Metallic and the Snow Willow.  My top two picks today...  ColorMates Natural and Iced White Metallic - both worked very well and gave promising results.  Either would make a nice option for an off white cardstock.

Once I had a chance to put my own toys in it (all my pretty markers...) I had to take some pics.

I also wanted to check and see how many of my class wallet sets I could fit in and carry...

Speaking of class sets... I'm thinking that this case would be a GREAT way for instructors to carry and use their class marker sets.  Just place each set of markers into one of the baskets, put them in the case and carry to class.  At class... just open it up, take out the class basket sets and place them on the tables... at the end... pack up and voila - you are ready to go...easy peasy!

 

I absolutely LOVE my Copic Carrying Case... I do a lot of traveling and now I can quickly and easily take my whole collection with me.  And my husband? He's getting his own!!!

As we head into the fall months, we are wrapping up our Standard and Intermediate Copic Certification schedule and beginning work on our schedule for 2012.  We now have ALL classes listed and open for enrollment for both Standard and Intermediate (with the exception of Atlanta Intermediate on Dec. 1st... that will open for enrollment very soon!)

Copic is Going to Hawaii!

That's right...  Copic Certification Classes are headed to Hawaii!

Standard Certification classes will be held on November 4th and 5th with an Intermediate Certification class on November 6th.

Marianne Walker will be teaching all of the classes, and they will be held at the Hawaiian Graphics Store. 

As a special ONE TIME ONLY occasion, we are allowing people to take the Regular Certification class AND the Intermediate class in the same week. (The Hawaiian location only!)  People will need to sign up for both classes at the same time if they want to take both. 

Registration opens today with a non-refundable class fee.  Don't wait... we expect these classes to fill quickly!

The Copic Coloring Guide Designer Hop - Win a Signed Copy!

Welcome to the Copic Coloring Guide Blog Hop!

The Copic Coloring Guide is the new book that I wrote with Marianne Walker.  It's the perfect resource for beginner and intermediate coloring artists alike.  The book contains information about the different styles of Copic markers, clearly explains the coloring/numbering system, details how to pick good blending groups, teaches a number of blending techniques through illustrated tutorials, and de-mystifies the colorless blender marker.  And that's just in the first 18 pages!  

The book also contains over 40 beautiful coloring card projects separated into beginner, intermediate and advanced skill level.  Each card project includes step-by-step coloring AND assembly instructions...  along with supply lists and manufacturer information to make recreating the projects simple and easy.
 
There are so many great projects in this book!  The designers who contributed are AMAZING and they were so much fun to work with.  I'd like to thank them ALL for sharing their talents with me and with our audience.  It was REALLY hard to pick my favorite project... it actually changes every time I page through the book, but today, here is MY favorite project...

 
I just LOVE all of the layers in this one... and the card itself is ALL about coloring!  LOL  The background is a digital image called Jungle and the little head-hunter guy is a rubber stamp called Chief Hambooli.  Both of the images and the sentiment are from Hambo Stamps.  It was so much fun to color this scene...and the instructions are included in the book!

Ink, Art, Friends, and Copic!

Phew...  I FINALLY am catching up after my week of Copic fun and instruction. 

Marianne Walker and I traveled to Berne, IN last week to teach a standard certification class to the employees of DRG Publishing (Annie's Attic and CardMaker Magazine) and a few other lucky Copic enthusiasts.  I have to say... it was one of the most entertaining groups I've worked with!  LOL  Those of you who have taken a class with me know that I can be a bit on the silly side... and Marianne... well, let's just say we had the group giggling the whole day. 

Here's a photo of me working with Tanya Fox, the EXTRAORDINARY gal who worked with us to get our book (The Copic Coloring Guide) published.  She is an amazing editor and a fabulous friend.  We had such a great time in the class... I can't wait to head back to have some more Copic fun in the future!  You can read more about the event HERE in the DRG news release. 

After an amazing day in Berne, Marianne and I drove to Indianapolis to meet up with Bianca Mandity for our very first Copic Ink and Art Workshop event.  Saturday dawned bright and sunny and the room quickly filled with excited participants and LOTS of paints, inks and supplies! 

Bianca and I tag-teamed it during the morning session where we taught 6 different techniques that combined Copic inks with a number of other mediums.  Then in the afternoon, we each taught a break-out session.  Bianca taught hand dying silks and I taught an acrylic medium canvas class. 

We asked students to be adventurous and experiment... and boy did they!  I was thrilled with the "what if" that became the motto for the day.  Every student left with oodles of new information and techniques that they can adapt and incorporate into their own artwork.  It was not only a hug success, but an amazing experience.  I can't wait to grow and expand the program! 

In other news... our book is FLYING off the shelves!  I couldn't be happier.  I'm getting lots of wonderful feedback and I am blown away by the kind comments and the overwhelming support.  Thank you ALL so very much... you are the reason I do what I do.

The Copic Coloring Guide is HERE!

This is it!  The day I've been waiting for... the day I've dreamed about... the day I can celebrate! 

I am officially an author! 

I'm so proud to announce The Copic Coloring Guide... a go-to guide for Copic users!  Whether you are completely new to the markers or you have been using them for years, this book contains wonderful and informational tutorials and projects for every skill level. 

I paired up with Marianne Walker and together we share our combined knowledge and love of Copic Markers. Included in the book are step-by-step tutorials explaining the numbering system, how to pick good blending groups, how to blend using a variety of techniques, and how to use that mysterious colorless blender.  Also included are over 40 card projects with easy to follow, step-by-step coloring and assembly instructions... from some of the most talented color artists in the business.

Splitcoast Product Review!

I'm sorry I've been AWOL for a bit.  I've been organizing a Florida Book Signing Tour, Prepping for the new Copic Mixed Media Event, and teaching some amazing folks in Columbus, OH at my standard and intermediate certification classes.

The product we reviewed was totally new to me... Daily Window.  The company has all sorts of "window" bags, totes, and accessories that can be decorated in any way imaginable!  A very cool concept for crafters, artists, schools, and home businesses. 

I reviewed their Eight Days a Week bag and a their Design Cube.  I have to say...  I was completely impressed with the quality of these products!  I have used other types of "craft bags" in the past and was never really happy with the quality or the practicality of them.  The Daily Window products BLEW all of those others out of the water.  I have not gone a day without using my Eight Days A Week bag and I've got my Design Cubes displayed prominently in my studio.

NEW EVENT... Copic Ink & Art Workshop

Join Copic Regional Art Instructors Bianca Mandity and Colleen Schaan for a day full of mixed media art fun as you explore combining your favorite mediums with Copic markers and inks. Students will attend a combined workshop in the morning and two smaller breakout sessions in the afternoon.

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00 Mixed-Media Marker Madness!

In this class youʼll learn a variety of mixed-media techniques that use Copic markers and inks. Walk through each technique step-by-step and then create your own sample. Finished pieces will be attached to shipping tags and bound together to create your very own technique booklet. The techniques that will be covered are: Copic & Bleach Bath, Found Object Resist, Layered Backgrounds, Hot Photos, Colorful Textures and Colorizing Transfers.

Afternoon Sessions will run from 1:00 – 3:00 and 3:30 – 5:30

Session A - Dyed and Gone to Heaven – Bianca Mandity
Create heavenly hand-dyed silk in this 2-hour class. Bind each stunning silk panel to create a magnificent art book, the perfect backdrop for your creative musings.    Techniques taught will be: faux batik, marbleizing silk, French ribbon dying, stenciling, glittering and doodling on silk.

Session B – Ink, Paper, Paint: A Colorful Story – Colleen Schaan
Tell your very own story with ink, paper and paint! Get lost in texture, color and form in this 2-hour experiment. I will teach you how to tint and mix different acrylic mediums and combine them with Copic inking techniques that will give you one-of-a-kind results. Design your own images from paper or fabric while glazing, layering and building your own masterpiece. Be free in your creative process. Watch what happens when we experiment, play and discover our way to a happy ending.  (Here's a sneak peak at part of my project.)

What a Job!

Have I ever said that I love my job?  Well I DO!  What could be more fun than stamping, coloring card making and teaching?  How about traveling?  How about learning new art forms?  How about experimenting with amazing products?  Yup... that's what I get to do! 

I'm back to my travel schedule and I've added a few new things to my agenda this year.  Namely... Fine Art and Mixed Media.  I was so blessed to be asked to join the Copic Fine Art Instructor Team a while back and I'm super excited to be meeting the rest of the team in Phoenix next week for a meeting and the NAMTA show.  We will be discussing what types of art forms each of us brings to the table (most of the team members have Fine Art degrees) and planning new educational opportunities for our customers.  (Bianca and I have already started planning our first Mixed Media Event).  I've been working on my "art portfolio" for that and this is one of my favorite pieces.

I've also been prepping for some store visits in North Carolina at the end of the month.  I'll be visiting Peanut Doodles on Tuesday, April 26 and Dorothy's Stamp & Scraps on Thursday, April 28th.  Here's one of the cards we are going to be making at Dorothy's Stamp & Scraps.  I LOVE this image!!!  It's a Loralie Designs stamp.  I got a little doodle crazy on the frame... but who cares!  I still think it's adorable.

Lights... Camera... ACTION!

Did you know that I am TOTALLY camera shy?  Anyone who has asked if they could take photos during a class knows this... I always reply, "Sure...as long as you don't take photos of me!"  LOL 

That's why when my good friend Julianna Hudgins asked me to be a guest on her TV show Inspirations by Julianna I sort of freaked out and said, "Ummm, really?  Me?  (Nervous Giggle)...  ummm, I guess so,"  secretly hoping that a case of Typhoid Fever or Scarlet Mumps would temporarily put me out of commission. 

But, I guess I'll have to put on my big girl panties and suck it up, because I'm going LIVE at noon on Monday, February 28th!!!

I'll be making a BIG announcement (no... I'm NOT pregnant!) and demoing how to color and create this adorable card.

Class Information and Updates

I'm back from CHA and I'm working on getting caught up from the trip and gearing up for the next few months.  February is my "work in the office" month... no traveling events!  Time to book locations for classes, prep projects, and tackle the dreaded taxes.

I've also updated my Copic Certification Class page with information about all of the standard certification classes that I am going to be teaching this year and ALL of the intermediate classes that the entire group will be teaching.  You can see the class schedule and full details HERE on my Copic Certification Page.

The intermediate class that was held in LA the day before CHA was amazing!  Debbie Olson and Sherrie Siemens taught it and WOW... they rocked the room!  Everyone enjoyed themselves and so many of the students thought it was good enough that they'd like to take it again (yes... there's that much info covered!)  If you have taken the standard certification class and are considering the intermediate... SIGN UP!  We've heard people say that they are afraid to apply because of the "show me" portion of the application... but seriously... give it a try!  You never know unless you attempt it! 

Sorry about the lack of eye candy today.  Being in office mode means I haven't been in the studio for a while... but I'll be back later this week with something fun.

Wild Guesses!

Oh you folks make me giggle!

I never expected to be "expecting" after making my blog post on Tuesday... but apparently half of you think I am.  Sorry to say... that's NOT my good news.

The other half of you folks guessed right. (I'm sure you found the link helpful right?) 

I've been asked to write for CardMaker Magazine!!! 

Each issue will feature some sort of coloring tip... from ways to use your copics, to lighting issues to different mediums.  The first issue (March) is available for digital subscription right now... and the print copy hits news stands on January 18th and includes an article on how to use Copic markers to color skin tones.  The image here is a snippet from the card projects that is included - and that super adorable image is from Mo Manning. 

This is the very first time I've been published in a print magazine (I've done lots of on-line work)... so I'm giddy beyond belief and I'm thrilled to finally share the news with my peeps. 

So... if you ever have coloring questions or suggestions for the article... just let me know.

Copic Class Updates

I'm back from Chicago and playing catch up on all of my work.  I had such a GREAT time with the other gals on the Copic Certification team... what an amazing group of women!  Here we are after a surprise lunch cruise on the Spirit of Chicago... a huge boat that cruised up and down the Chicago shoreline.  We are all a bit windblown and chilled, but we couldn't resist huddling up for a photo or two. 

During the trip we all attended the very first Intermediate Copic Certification class that was taught by Marianne Walker.  What a blast... and I can say, it's a hard-core class full of color theory, design tips and coloring concepts.  I can't wait to start teaching this one! 

We discussed possible locations for both standard and intermediate classes for 2011 and I will be posting my own list very soon (sometime this week).  So be watching for that.

It's that time of year... (and Copic news and updates)

Well, it's almost Halloween, which means every store has at least one aisle of Christmas stuff out already!  With only about two months left before the big day, it's time to start crafting those holiday greetings!

Here's one of the cards I taught in my It's a Copic Christmas class down in Jacksonville, FL a few weeks ago.  It's one of my favorite holiday images (I Believe from Flourishes).  It looks a bit intimidating, but it's actually pretty easy to color.  The gals in my class had such a good time and were all astonished at their finished pieces.  (I wasn't... I KNEW they would rock the image!)

Garden Party Dress!

I'm back from New York and headed back out this weekend to Orlando and then off to Savannah!  I've got a few posts "scheduled" so you won't miss me while I'm gone.  LOL

I've just started submitting some designs to magazines in the hopes of getting them picked up.   Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time and I often miss the call deadlines.  (blush)  Here is a card that I actually got in ON TIME and it even focused on the theme...but alas... it wasn't quite what they were looking for. 

I just figure that makes it fair game for blogging!  LOL  

The stamp is from Loralie Designs... I met Loralie and Susan (her CEO) at summer CHA and OMG... these gals are a hoot!!!  Both of them have bubbly and charming personalities... just like Loralie's images! 

This gal is called "Fairy Tale Romance" and I think she is just lovely!  I think it is ingenious that the stamp image is of the "bust" only so that you can create your own fabric (or paper) skirt.  Here I gave her a breezy, tissue-paper tutu so she will be the envy of every woman at the garden party!

Copic Certification News!!!

Here's what you've been waiting for...   details of the new Intermediate Copic Certification Class!  (Copied directly from Marianne's Blog!

Intermediate Certification Details

Intermediate Certification
Chicago, Oct. 22nd, Taught by Marianne Walker, Project by Sherrie Siemens and Debbie Olson
(the next session will be before Winter CHA, then regularly thereafter)

The application for the intermediate class will be available in about a week. Below are the technical details of the class for those of you who are interested in attending. I will have more information about specific topics as time progresses:

• Class size is limited, so apply early.

• Class runs from 9am to 4pm with a 1 hr. lunch break, then 6 to 8pm for the project. You MUST be available to attend the whole day or you will not be listed as having completed the training. People who cannot attend the evening event will not be accepted into the class.

• Fee: $199, due within 3 days of accepted application. NO EXCEPTIONS! Demand is very high for this first session and you will be bumped if you do not pay within the 3 days. Same cancellation policy as with regular certification (see the details section where regular applications are posted).

Important Note: You must have completed your regular certification prior to submitting the application for the Intermediate class. There are no exceptions.

Application Process:
• As soon as you get the application fill it out COMPLETELY and submit it.

• No applications are accepted early.

• You cannot save a space for a friend- they must be accepted on the same basis as everyone else.

• This application is harder to fill out than a standard application, so fill it out and return it right away.

• To apply you must prove a mastery of basic topics covered in a regular certification, as the instructors will NOT be reviewing any topics covered in a regular class.

• Coloring will be required in the application.

• The application will be a downloadable PDF. This will need to be electronically returned to us as a jpeg. The best method is to print it out, complete the application and follow the directions, then scan it or take a clean, easy to see photo of the relevant sections for us to review. We MUST decline applications that are not returned properly, since demand is so high for this session.

• DO NOT SEND ANY ADDITIONAL CARD EXAMPLES! This will not change your chances of getting into the class. The examples you provide in the application will be exactly the same as everyone else, and they prove to us that you have practiced coloring and are ready for the next level.

• Applications will be reviewed as soon as we get them, and you will be notified upon acceptance.

Don't feel bad if you are not accepted. Space is very limited, especially since this is the first class. We are keeping applications neutral and will not accept people simply because they are a "craft-lebrity" or "a big name in crafting". We need to assure that everyone attending the class is dedicated to coloring already and driven to learning techniques that will take their work to a new level. The instructor has a lot to cover in a short time, and people who aren't confident in their techniques could slow down the whole class.

There will be more Intermediate Classes as time passes, so if you don't get in the first time, don't give up! Practice all of the blending techniques, practice smooth coloring,...just practice, practice, practice! Many of the topics covered in the class I have talked about over the years here on my blog. The difference is having the instructor right there to help you through your tough situation. Ideally, everyone would have a chance to get the one-on-one attention that will be provided in the class, but it is very hard at first.

Guess What? I'm a Guest DT for...

Kraftin' Kimmie's Stamps!!!

No kidding!  I'm so super geeked about it too! When my gal pal Kimmie contacted me a while back and asked if I would be a guest designer for August, I immediately said yes.  I mean... who doesn't love her cute, whimsical and totally color-able images???  

I've been "imaginary" friends with Kimmie for years...  we met each other on-line and immediately hit it off.  It wasn't until just recently at CHA that we finally got to meet each other IRL.  I'm not embarrassed to say that we screamed and jumped and hugged in the hotel hallway when we finally spied each other.  LOL

This month's release is all about Halloween!!!  OMG... Talk about fun to color!  Here I used the new Hattie ghost image.  Isn't she just spooky sweet?  I imagined her a woman jilted at the alter and she's spent her "life" haunting the poor schmuck who did it.  LOL 

I colored her with Copics (E000/BV0000/BV000/Y11/Y21/Y15/Y19/N0/N2/N4/B000) and added a bit of airbrushing with E31 created a nice "distressed/vintage" feel for her.  Since I finally have my sewing machine out in my studio, I quickly stitched the left edge of the image and added a swirl (cut with my new eclips!) and a button to the right side. 

I can't wait until you see ALL of the images...  adorable, adorable, adorable!

I've been busy stamping, coloring, designing, and planning!  There is still so much I have to share with you all!

I know you are all wondering WHEN and WHERE the X-Press It Blending Card will be available (see this post for product info)... While I don't have a list of all of the stores carrying it... I do know of a few who have already announced that they will be.  7kidscollegefund and Oozak are both on line.  I have no affiliation with either of these stores... but I've shopped both with wonderful results.  As far as your local independent crafty stores... go in and ask!  Let them know you want it.  It is available for stores to order now.

Another new announcement from Copic... 

Intermediate Certification Classes!!!

You read that right!  We are now going to be offering intermediate certification classes as well as our regular certification classes.  

The intermediate certification classes will start this fall (location soon to be announced) and we will add more classes around the nation in the next year.

The class is technique based and geared to those who want to take their coloring to the next level.  Topics covered include: picking colors, various light sources, coloring tricky things like faces, hair, and reflections, shadows vs. shading and more advanced color theory.  

Note:  You can not take the intermediate class without having first taken the beginner certification... so sign up today for the beginner class near you if you haven't yet.

Please do not email for applications or information about the intermediate certification classes as it is not available yet... the team will be posting more information as soon as it becomes available.

This is one product that will put your adhesive woes behind you!  I didn't think I'd love it... but I do!

I've used another brand of "sticky" tape for years... and while I loved the holding power, I hated the filmy static cling and the gunk it left on my cutting tools.  X-Press It to the rescue!

News, Updates and Exciting Information! (Part 1)

Well, I finally made it home and am rested up from CHA.  I traveled to Green Bay directly from Chicago to visit my family and had one heck of a time getting back home.... but I'm here now and I'm getting back to work!

I've got SO MUCH to share with you from the past two weeks that I've got to split it up into a number of posts...  so today is the first of many with exciting news and product reviews!

Let's start by talking about some of the great new products that Copic (Imagination International Inc.) revealed at CHA...

Introducing X-Press It Blending Card

Our booth was buzzing with excitement when we introduced a new card stock!  X-Press It is a card stock that Marianne and Lori discovered when they visited Australia and they were so impressed with it that they brought it to the States.  We had samples for people to try out and it was met with resounding cheers! 

X-Press It is a bit denser than Neenah (my previous favorite paper) but not as dense as Bazzill or Gina K. Pure Luxury, so it's still a somewhat soft paper, but it is super smooth and silky.  It's a nice crisp white and is a nice sturdy 92 lb weight. 

Because of the super smooth surface, the ink glides on like butt-ah!  Seriously... it flows right out of the marker onto the paper with a nice, light touch.  The surface also allows the colors to blend amazingly well.  In fact, shocked gasps of joy were heard when we demoed just how easily the colors blended. 

But the best of all...  no matter how much ink was applied, there was no feathering!  That's right... layer after layer and no feathering or bleeding... it was awesome!  It's the best of both worlds... the ease of blending on a soft paper and the ink control of a dense paper. 

I love this stuff!!!

The paper is on it's way to the States as I type and will soon be available to retailers.  Make sure to stop in to your local craft stores for price and availability.

Copic News And Other Updates

I'm busy getting ready to head up to Chicago on Monday for summer CHA!  I'm SO excited...  I'll be teaching and demoing in the Copic booth most of the week - so if you are there, please stop in and say, "Hi!"

Before I leave, I have to finish stamping some images (so I have something to color while sitting in the airport), do a bit of DT work, clean the house (we are having friends come visit this weekend), do laundry, and I should probably think about packing sometime before Monday morning too!  LOL

The crafty things I've been working on are "top secret" for now, so I have no eye candy to share this morning, but I do have some info updates.

Simply Hanging On!

WOW...  I never expected the amount of visitors and/or comments on my last post about my New Studio.  Your excitement and your sharing in my joy was just totally overwhelming!  Thank you all for the well wishes and blessings for my new space. Some of you asked about all of the stamps and supplies I purged as I was moving... and I do still have them all...  I'll have to set up some Super Space Blog Candy here soon - stay tuned for that!

I was finally able to get down to my new space to do some serious crafting and I wanted to share two new cards with you tonight for the GinaK Seeds of Kindness Blog Hop.

I have fond memories of my grandmother always growing violets in her kitchen... and this image reminds me of her joy in caring for them.

With this second sample I wanted to show that Copic markers can be used on card stock that isn't white.  I use white most often, but when I want a really special look, I use something different.  Here, I've stamped the hanging basket image directly onto a Soft Sand card base and colored it in.  Since the markers are alcohol ink, the ink is translucent and the color of the card base is still visible.  I LOVE the way this turned out.  Of course, I didn't want anything too fancy or distracting to show up the subtle coloring, so I kept the layout super simple and refrained from adding layers and embellishments (although it was SO hard not to add a button or a snap or something!!! LOL)

A New Space to Work and Play!

It's the post you have all been waiting for...  MY STUDIO IS DONE!!!

It's taken a LOT longer than expected, but it was SO worth the wait.  I have to send out a HUGE thank you to my father who did 99.5% of the work on it.  When he agreed to build it for me, I don't think he had any idea what an undertaking it was going to be.  So here's to you dad... still coming to my rescue after all these years.  (MWAH)

And now for the pics...  grab a cup-pa joe and settle in... let's take a tour!

A long time ago in a galaxy far away.... (Oh too dramatic?  Then lets just go with this...)

Sometime in April down in the basement...

 

The work began with studding in walls and creating a ceiling tray for all of the HVAC stuff.  (See all those boxes in the other room... those are the cabinets!)

After the walls were up, the electrical and insulation was added.  (I think I was actually in Florida teaching when this step happened. LOL)

It all started to come together once the drywall was up and the mudding was done.  (Ugh, I WAS home for this step and lucky enough to get to help sand...)

Wow!  What a difference a few coats of paint makes... unfortunately it turned out "Doctor Scrub Green" instead of the bright, cheery celery green I had planned for.)

The next step... up go the cabinets!  It was definitely a two person job.  (Thanks awesome hubby!)

 

All of the wall cabinets are up... time to do the floor cabinets.  (Sorry.. no photo!)

Then the LONG wait for the counter tops.  It took a month longer than expected to get them made and then when they came to install... the sink was cut out in the wrong spot!  Grrrr, so I waited some more.  (tick-tock-tick-tock)  

But as you can see... once they finally got in correctly, the space was AWESOME!!!  The island in the middle is approximately 4 x 6 just to give you a scope of the size of the place! 

And then the hard work began for me...

I packed up my temporary studio and hauled it from the second floor down to the basement.  (Phew... good thing I've been working out!)

As I unpacked boxes, I just put things out on every horizontal space I could find... good thing I've got a lot of room.

 

And after two days (or was it three?) of unpacking and putting things away... my space is all cleaned up and ready to go! 

It's all nice and bright and cheery... just don't look at the floor.  It's a mess!  We spent a ton of time (and hard work) etching and cleaning the concrete.  We then stained it with this sort-of-terracotta wash... but it looks nothing like I planned... so someday in the future we will probably put down some Purgo or something. 

Here's another view... those double doors go to the rest of the basement.  There are doors right behind where I'm standing that go outside. 

And here's the rest of the room.  We were going to do built in bookshelves, but a trip to IKEA solved that space quite nicely.  That is a 5 x 5 foot grouping of shelf squares with an additional single column of shelf squares on each side.  I have all of my books and magazines housed here and it's also a great place to showcase some of my work.  (I still want to add a cozy chair by the window for times I want to curl up and soak in some inspiration.)

The next few photos are some close ups of my actual "stations".  This one is my white-board calendar and storage for my buttons, sequins and Stickles.  It is housed above a 5 foot wide work station.

 

This is my "main" work station; this one's about 3 feet wide.  I've got my most-often used inks and embellishments here.  I've got my Copics handy-dandy and ready to use!  (There is also under-cabinet lighting for each of these work stations - perfect for coloring late at night.)

For someone who claims not to sew.. I sure like to collect fabric!  LOL  This will apparently be my sewing station.  It will be nice to actually have my machine set up and ready to use!  (That stack of fabric on the very upper-left shelf is what I'm going to make my curtains from for my room... you know... when I have a few spare moments! LOL)

This is part of my painting station.  I LOVE having the sink already!!!  I've got a whole bunch more paint that I need to unpack yet... and my canvases are down below in some narrow cabinets.  That center island will be PERFECT for my painting and mixed media work!

This is one of my favorite areas!  I purged about 3 boxes of stamps and only kept what I really like and use.  I've got a TON of stamps housed in the Gina K binders and I've got more stamps to add to them.  I don't have many wood stamps anymore... but I kept some backgrounds and my favorite larger ones and placed them so I could see them.  I can't WAIT to use this area.  My inks and other stamping supplies are in the cabinets below.  (I have a whole drawer full of adhesives... can you believe it???)

And last but not least... my paper and cutting station!  Due to logistics, we had to face the drawers this way instead of toward the inside of my work area... but I'm good with that!  I saved my old two-drawer file cabinet that I store my card stock in and spray painted it white and dad rigged up a way to get it to be the same height as the rest of the cabinets.  I LOVE this area!  I have all of my cutting dies in the drawers to the left, my card stock in the file cabinet and my extra paper (for classes) in the big cabinet.  The only issue I have with this station is that it's too tall!  Or wait... maybe it's that I'm too short!  Seriously - I used to have my cutting tools on a card table and it was much shorter.  I can't get enough leverage to actually USE the stuff at this station... so I'm going to have to rig up a step of some sort...

Either that or start crafting in platform shoes!  LOL

Well... that's it.  That's what I've been working on for the last 4 months!  That's why I've gotten so little crafting done.  It's been aggravating and exhausting, and exciting... and I can't wait to get it inked and painted up!!!

I've got LOTS of room to get crafty now.... so who wants to come over and play?

Copic Class Updates and A Sneaky Peeky!

I've got purple pinkies, teal thumbs, and fuchsia fingers...

I'm busy getting ready for a Copic Certification Class in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on Monday and I've been re-inking my class markers...  Nothing like a little color to brighten your day. 

While I'm there, I'm also teaching some Copic classes at The Stamp Shack.  These classes filled so fast we had to add a whole additional day to the itinerary!  LOL  Here is a picture of my prep for one of the projects we are doing... and you thought I only colored stamps!  LOL   (I'll share the finished project after I get back... I don't want to spoil the surprise for the folks taking the class!)

Thanks everyone for the kind comments both about the blog and about the product.  Diane, your Spica Glitter Pens are on their way!!!  

Now for all of you who have been begging for pictures of the new place... here they are!!!  We closed yesterday and headed over for a few quick pictures... oh, and to drop off the new TV that we purchased already!  (Rolling my eyes... the boy's toys!)

Walk along as I give you a tour...

This is the outside front.  I can't wait for the flowers and bushes to start blooming!

This is the most important room in the house... it is my unfinished art studio!!!  I've been designing and planning all week. 

Here is the kitchen... it's pretty awesome!  Now I guess I'll have to learn how to cook.  LOL

Here is one of my favorite things about the house... just look at those windows!  It's the view of our living room from the upstairs balcony.  I somehow have to figure out what sort of curtains I want to use here...  hmmmmm...

Here is the living room from the main floor by the kitchen.  See... Nate's already playing with the new TV.  (more eye rolling)

Here's something pretty cool... our bathroom... or should I say "The Spa" as it has already been dubbed.

Guess what's just off the bathroom?  A walk in closet.  And I do mean walk in... heck... we could probably drive a car in here... it's HUGE!  I'm gonna have to buy more clothes!  LOL

And the bedroom... with a nice cozy fireplace... just flip a switch and ahhhhh - how romantic! 

The view from the bedroom... LOTS of wood!  I love how open it all is.  Our dogs will have a field day running in circles from one walk way to the other.

Here's something strange...  can you say, "Arrrrrrrh"  (This is in the guest bathroom off the living room... it REALLY doesn't fit with the rest of the style of the house... I'm thinking of doing a pirate theme complete with Parrots in there.)

We are so incredibly blessed! 

The movers and packers will be here (in OK) this week and we drive back to Atlanta on Saturday.  Then the hard work begins!

What's Glittery, Bright, and full of Bling?

Our newest Copic Regional Instructor - that's who!!!

While at CHA last week Marianne Walker surprised Jennie Black by inviting her to join the team of Regional Certification Instructors.  It was awesome...  after the first shocked, "WHAT?"  and the, "Are you serious?"  came the, "YESSSSSSSSSSSS!" and applause broke out around the table.  (The rest of the team was in on the surprise and we had been very careful not to  spill the beans.) 

Jennie will be supporting the Southwestern Region of the US... and she is already busy setting up certification classes all around her region. 

I'm SO excited to have Jennie join the team.  She is bright, fun, giggly, and full of energy... get the two of us together and it's a non-stop chatter and motion-fest!  LOL  I'm thinking they have us on opposite sides of the US so that we don't get into too much trouble...  (wink)

Copic at CHA and other Certification News

Soon... very soon, I'm going to be jumping on a plane and heading to sunny California!  (At least I hope it is sunny.) 

I'll be attending my very first CHA event and I'm so excited!  I will be assisting Sherrie Siemens during the Copic Certification class on Saturday... (There are actually two certification classes being held at CHA this year...)
