Whimsy February Challenge - Metal

I've never been a heavy metal gal, but I sure did love the challenge this month for Whimsy Stamps!

We were challenged to use or create with "something metal" and you know me... not a rule follower... so I went my own way and created... something that LOOKS like metal.  LOL

Here's what I came up with.

Talk about a Viking Warrior! - She is the new Warrior Princess image from the February Whimsy release.  She belongs to the KennyK's fantasy series.  SO much fun to color! 

With all of the different layers and types of metal, I knew this would be perfect for the challenge.  I tried to make sure that each different type of material really looked like a different type of metal... from the bright helmet and shield to the cool sharpness of the ax to the deep warm clanging of the breastplate and armored skirt. 

I'm pretty darn excited about the way this one turned out... and I have the perfect person to send it to... a warrior in her own right.

February Whimsy Release - Day 4

Today I'm sharing Strawberry Swing from the Little Cottage Collection. I paired it with Lovely Spring Sliders 2 (cut with the Slider Die 2) to make a simply sweet greeting.  She is just so wide-eyed and her cute animal friends are just as sweet as berries!

Whimsy January Challenge - Fancy Edges!

Today I'm participating in my very first Whimsy Challenge!  This month the challenge was to use Fancy Edges... something that I'm not always comfortable with.  I'm more of the straight-and-narrow type of gal. 

I used this month's new release Dreamy Dragon image from the Wee Stamps collection.  I wanted a "soft" look, so I stamped him with Potter's Clay.  I then used a variety of die cut shapes to create layers within the card.

I just love the holiday line and this adorable Two Turtle Doves image is just the sweetest! 

I paired the image with two of the sentiments from the new Holiday Circle Pennants set. (Each is a half-circle so you can create a banner or partner them up for full circles!)

After coloring her up, I realized that she isn't wearing just a dress, but a dress with an apron!  I guess I gave her a bit of a fashion faux pas by making her wear the same color accessories!  LOL

I jumped at the chance to work with this Scrooge image by Kenny K.  It just is so funny and quirky!  I loved coloring him up with old wrinkled and age spotted skin. 

It's hard to see, but the card base is black and the image is slightly off the upper and left edges.  I thought this sentiment was perfect for the grouchy old guy!  LOL

Today I'm sharing a super simple card project featuring the new Jasmine image from KennyK's Glam Gang line.  I think these gals have such spunk and attitude... I love 'em!

I colored the image using Copic markers (I used the colorless blender on a washcloth to create the texture on the jeans and jacket), and paired it up with some hexagon patterned paper and a larger sentiment.  It makes me happy!

Today I want to share a whimsical card I made with the gorgeous new Summer Garden stamp set.

Isn't this a little girls dream?  I love all of the ribbons and flowers and floaty detail on this beautiful image - such a joy to color.  I left the layout pretty simple to keep the main focus on the image... using just a touch of patterned paper from Bazzill Basics and a bit of wired organdy ribbon.  Colored with Copics (body -  V20, main/tail - V20/V22, ribbons - B12/B14, pole and saddle Y02/Y26, flowers RV52/R89, leaves YG41/G24)

Today I'm sharing a fresh summer card that uses one of the sentiments from Summer Letter Oval Seals as the focal point.  I'ts a NCC... or co coloring card!  (Well, I did color the tiny flip-flops on the sentiment, but that doesn't really count. LOL)

I cut out the flip flops with my Sizzix eClips (seasonal cartridge).  I die cut a piece of Pinapple Bliss card stock with the Double Scallop Doily die (OMG...this is amazing) and another with the new Fun in the Sun Oval die.  I attached a circle of patterned paper (from the Buttercup collection from Lilybee Designs) and stamped the sentiment on white card and cut to fit the oval die shape.  I layered everything with foam tape and attached to a layer of Dragonfly card stock and then adhered it all to a Kachina card base.

Whimsy Stamps May Release Hope #3 - Guest Designer!

I'm hopping along today and I used this "road rad" Bike Kid image from the KennyK collection. 

I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It Blending card and colored with the following Copic markers: skin - E51/E42/E43, jeans - B41/B45/0, shirt and bike - R22/R24/R29/R39, hat and gloves - N0/T1/T3/T4/T6/T8, glasses, grips and tires - C1/C3/C5/C7, ground T1/T3/T4

I then cut out the image with my Spellbinders circle die and matted it on black card stock.  I stamped the sentiment from the Retro Bottle Caps set, die cut with the bottle cap die and matted that in black also.  I attached the image and sentiment to red card stock. I then wrapped some black and white baker's twine around the layered pieces and attached them to a black card base.

Happy Bird-Day Brook!!! (CardMaker Birthday Hop)

Today I am sending out "Bird-Day" wishes to my good friend Brooke Smith - the managing editor for CardMaker Magazine and leader of the CardMaker Blog team!

Our assignment for today's hop was to make a birthday card using the color scheme from this photo... teal, pink, white and gray.  Little did Brooke know... but, a little birdie told us that TODAY is actually her own birthday!!!  So I want to celebrate by sending this card and happy wishes out to her today. 

I tried to channel my inner Beate Johns by adding the fancy shaped die, the bling flourish, and the flowers on the bow...  It's a bit more flashy than my normal style, but I certainly do like it... and I hope Brooke does too!
